Motivational Monday Link Party #4 | Joy in Our Home

Happy Monday Friends!!

It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year!! And with all the summer fun ahead, the days will just fly by! I feel like I want to savour and truly enjoy each day… making time for the most important things first! In case you noticed, (well, I’m hoping you did), I was unplugged from my blog this past week. We had a refreshing and relaxing time away!

So, welcome back to another Motivational Monday.  I am so happy to co-host this party with two fabulous ladies and bloggers, Amanda from Burlap and Babies and Christina from The DIY Mommy. SO glad you are here and thank you to each one who linked up last week. You can catch it here if you missed it! There were so many fabulous DIY projects shared… the perfect motivation I need to get working and posting some projects after my week away.

Hosted by:  Joy In Our Home, Burlap and Babies, The DIY Mommy

Ready to share what motivates you? Link up a picture or post of something that motivates you (or others) to create or just be awesome! Our goal is for this link up to focus on craft, DIY & home posts. Each week, each hostess will feature their favorite from the previous week. Please do not link Etsy stores, giveaways, or other link parties. Link party goes up Monday and ends at 5:00pm PST on Friday.

I am loving this bedroom makeover by Krista from The Happy Housie!  Just look at that floor to ceiling board and batten!!! If you’ve never checked out her blog before, you have to go see all her amazing diy!

You have to check out this (almost) entirely thrifted dining room from The Queen and Her Court. I love this window box Amber rescued from the side of the road and found a home in her beautiful dining room!

And now, it’s time to party! We can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!!  We’d love for you to stick around as well and visit some other linkers and leave a comment or two (we know we all LOVE encouraging comments, right?) Grab the link up button below and let’s party!

End Table Makeover | Joy in Our Home

I’m so excited to show you my End Table Makeover today!! I love how they turned out.

Last summer I rescued a set of them from our garage sale site. They were pretty banged up but I loved the size and style of them and immediately said yes, I’ll take them! I envisioned putting a basket on the bottom for magazines or books and stuff.

Here is what they looked like before…

Yes, they needed some serious TLC! The first things I did were, removing the piece of wood on the back, as it was pretty rotten. I also removed the wooden handle. I am loving glass knobs lately and could add them to all of our furniture! heehee! Take a peek at our dresser makeover here and see the pretty glass hardware!

The color I chose is Baby Aqua from Cloverdale paint. I have loved turquoise forever it seems. When I was a teenager growing up, my mom spray painted anything and everything in my room for me (and that was before Pinterest and the whole spray painting craze!!!!). I had turquoise lamps, picture frames, my wall unit, light switch plate, bedding, etc… ok, you get the idea! I still love turquoise, but didn’t want the end tables too dark. They are going in our family room in the basement and I wanted something to brighten up the space!

First, I gave them two coats of Primer and they looked better already…

And then two coats of Baby Aqua…

I picked up 2 pieces of MDF boards from Home Depot for the back. They are super cheap… something like $1.50 each. After my husband cut to the right size, I covered them with some Hallmark wrapping paper I picked up from Walmart

My husband then used a nail gun to fasten them to the back of the end tables.

Here is what they look like with the paper attached…

And just another shot…

If they were a little bigger, I’d keep them in our living room because I love how they turned out soo much!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

EGGcellent Easter Treats | Joy in Our Home

Today I want to share a super easy and quick Easter treat that I made for our kid’s teachers. I just wanted a little something for our little ones to give to their teachers as a way of saying “thanks for being a fabulous teacher!” These were quick to make and look so cute!

You will need:

* Easter treats of your choice, Easter grass, little ziplock bags, and colored paper of your choice

* You will also need “You are an EGGcellent Teacher” printed for however many you are going to make.

I found the pack of ziplock bags in the craft section of our dollar store. They were the perfect size to fill with some Easter grass and chocolate eggs.

First, I used my Cuttlebug and a Sizzix die to cut out the yellow and purple tags. I then folded them length-wise and glued my “You are an EGGcellent Teacher” tags on to them. I didn’t want the staples to show through my tags so I just stapled the back of the colored tags to the ziplock bags and glued the front of the tag to the back.

And there you go! A super cute lil’ Easter treat. I am planning on making more for the kid’s friends and some for our neighborhood friends that say “You are an EGGcellent neighbor”. Really, you could make them say anything… from Grandparents, to aunties, to uncles, to friends, etc. A sweet and yummy way to show someone you love them!

Why not make some of these this Easter? They would be super cute in your lil’ ones Easter baskets as well! Thanks for coming by, friends!

Until next time,

Kendra
